The Sierra Leone Court Reporters Association paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Osman Kanu, in recognition of his invaluable support and participation in the Association’s recent training on the new Criminal Procedure Act (CPA).
The training was organized to provide court reporters with a deeper understanding of the provisions of the new CPA, with the aim of strengthening professionalism, accuracy, and balanced reporting in the coverage of court proceedings across Sierra Leone.
The engagement also created an opportunity for journalists to interact with legal experts and gain greater insight into the country’s justice system and ongoing legal reforms.
During the visit, members of the Association also commended JAK Sesay, a state prosecutor, for his willingness to share his knowledge and expertise throughout the training sessions. They noted that his contribution significantly enhanced participants’ understanding of the practical application of the new law.
As a token of appreciation for his support toward the growth and development of court reporting in Sierra Leone, the Association presented a plaque to DPP Osman Kanu.
A framed certificate was also presented to JAK Sesay by the President of the Association, Salifu Conteh, alongside other members of the Association, in recognition of his dedication, professionalism, and outstanding contribution to the success of the training.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical, accurate, and informed court reporting through continuous training and strengthened collaboration with key stakeholders within the justice sector.
