The Education Department of New Harvest Global Ministries on Sunday, May 31, 2026, held its maiden District Schools Thanksgiving Service under the theme, “Building Future Leaders Through Godly Education,” drawn from Proverbs 22:6. The event took place at the ministry’s Central House of Gathering in Bo City.
The thanksgiving service marked a significant milestone in the ministry’s growing educational mission in Bo District and across Sierra Leone. It brought together pupils, teachers, school administrators, parents, and church leaders in a celebration of gratitude and reflection on God’s faithfulness in the education sector.
Speaking on the significance of the occasion, the Chairman of Heads of Schools for New Harvest Global Ministries, Pastor Alpha Mugabe, said the service was organized to thank God for His guidance in promoting academic excellence, character development, and the steady growth of kingdom-centred education throughout the district.
Pastor Mugabe disclosed that New Harvest Global Ministries currently operates 141 schools nationwide, with 41 of them located in Bo District. He noted that the ministry’s remarkable growth and achievements over the years called for a moment of thanksgiving for God’s sustaining grace and continued blessings.
Describing the occasion as “a day of remembrance and expectation for greater gains,” he reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening educational standards founded on Christian values.
Addressing the large congregation, the Proprietor of Every Nation Academy and Global Team Leader of New Harvest Global Ministries, Reverend Shodankeh Johnson, reflected on his own educational journey, describing it as challenging due to financial difficulties.
Despite those challenges, he said education remains the foundation for personal and societal transformation. He stressed that schools should serve as centres of academic excellence while nurturing Christ-like character.
Reverend Johnson emphasized that the success of any educational institution depends on the collective efforts of teachers, pupils, and administrators. He added that schools cannot thrive without discipline, dedication, and a shared sense of responsibility.
“Education is not just about grades,” Reverend Johnson stated, noting that the ministry’s educational programme aims to produce morally upright, future-ready leaders grounded in Christian principles.
He further revealed that the Education Department of New Harvest Global Ministries was established to provide affordable, quality education rooted in Christian values for children across Sierra Leone. He described the maiden district thanksgiving service as the beginning of even greater achievements for the ministry’s schools.
Representing the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Bo District Deputy Director, Prince Gebbeh, expressed confidence in the administration of Every Nation Academy, citing its consistent academic performance and impressive results in public examinations.
He encouraged school administrators to uphold discipline, integrity, transparency, and accountability to ensure the sustainable growth and continued success of Every Nation Academy and other institutions under the ministry.
Prince Gebbeh also urged pupils to remain focused on their studies and encouraged teachers to maintain their commitment to quality instruction and the early preparation of candidates for public examinations.
Delivering a sermon on the theme, “Building Future Leaders Through Godly Education,” guest minister Reverend John Luke Momoh underscored the importance of instilling godly values in children through an education system centred on Christ.
He encouraged pupils to embrace positive moral values and cultivate godly character traits that align with the teachings and standards of New Harvest Global Ministries. He also cautioned them against behaviours that could undermine their future aspirations.
Special prayers were offered for pupils, teachers, and school administrators. The historic ceremony concluded on a memorable note with a vote of thanks delivered by one of the pupils.
