A 23-year-old unemployed man, Lamin Mansaray, made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on Monday, June 1, 2026, on a charge of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly committed the offence on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at No. 93 Wilkinson Road, Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The prosecution alleged that Mansaray, with intent to steal, broke into the dwelling house of Adama Nourah Ngobeh and stole one Samsung air conditioner valued at Le12,000, three bags of charcoal valued at Le300, and one plastic chair valued at Le250, bringing the total value of the stolen items to Le12,550. The items are said to be the property of Adama Nourah Ngobeh.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

Prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Wilson informed the court that the defendant had been served with a copy of the case file. She further stated that the complainant was currently out of the jurisdiction.

The accused was not legally represented and informed the court that he wished only to cross-examine the complainant.

Magistrate Fornah subsequently ordered that a subpoena be issued and served on the absent prosecution witness. He also remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending further proceedings.

The matter was adjourned to June 8, 2026.
