Motorbike Rider Remanded for Alleged Armed Robbery

Twenty-eight-year-old Mohamed Kargbo, a motorbike rider, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on three counts of robbery with aggravation.

The offence is contrary to Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act, 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2022 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

According to the particulars of offence, on Sunday, 10th May 2026, at No. 4 Hill Top, Hill Station in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused, while armed with a machete and a knife, allegedly robbed Prince Benjamin of one blue iPhone 12 mobile phone valued at Twenty Thousand Leones (NLe 20,000), property of the said complainant.

Count Two further states that on the same date and at the same location, the accused, while armed with a machete and a knife, allegedly robbed Melrose Emily Momoh of one black iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at Thirty Thousand Leones (NLe 30,000), property of the said complainant.

Count Three further states that on the same date and location, the accused allegedly robbed Albert Jerome Momoh of Ten Thousand Leones (NLe 10,000).

When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken as the matter is still at committal proceedings.

The prosecutor, Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer Esq., informed the court that a copy of the defendant’s witness statement had been served to him. The defendant confirmed receipt of the document.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail due to the seriousness of the offences and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 10th June 2026.
