Twenty-seven-year-old Ibrahim Christopher Bah, a cinematographer, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on four counts of charges, including perverting the course of justice and multiple offences under the Cyber Security and Crime Act, 2021 (Act No. 7 of 2021).
The charges include perverting the course of justice, misuse of a device contrary to Section 38(1)(a) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act 2021, altering computer data resulting in inauthentic data with intent, and inputting computer data resulting in inauthentic data with intent, all contrary to the same Act.
According to the particulars of offence, on 30th April 2026, at Wilberforce Barracks in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly intentionally caused a computer system to perform a function with intent to deceive Major General Ngaujah and other senior state officials by generating fake WhatsApp chats in a group named “United APC” using an application called “WhatsFake” for unlawful purposes.
Count Two further states that on the same date and location, the defendant allegedly caused a computer system to perform a function with intent to deceive Major General Ngaujah and other senior state officials by generating fake WhatsApp chats through the same application for unlawful purposes.
Count Three alleges that on the same date and location, the defendant interfered with the computer system on his Samsung A6 mobile phone by altering data therein with intent of breaking the peace.
Count Four further alleges that the defendant inputted fake data into the computer system of his Samsung A6 mobile phone with intent to deceive Major General Ngaujah and other senior state officials and to breach the peace.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken as the matter is still at committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer Esq., informed the court that a copy of the defendant’s witness statement had been served to him.
The defendant confirmed receipt of the document.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail due to the seriousness of the offences. The matter was adjourned to 10th June 2026.
