A 34-year-old mason, Alimammy Kamara, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after pleading guilty to a charge of fraudulent conversion.
The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1, on one count of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Sunday, 17 August 2025, at Kowa Drive, Motormeh, Regent Village, Mountain Rural District, Western Area, Freetown, the convict fraudulently converted to his own use one blue Star TVS motorcycle with registration number AYE 463, valued at NLe36,000, which had been entrusted to him by Ibrahim Gbandia for commercial use.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded guilty.
Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo informed the court that the facts were as charged and confirmed that the defendant had no previous criminal record.
In mitigation, the convict pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
Delivering his judgment, Magistrate Jah noted that the accused had pleaded guilty and had not wasted the court’s time. Taking these factors into consideration, he sentenced Alimammy Kamara to five years’ imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
