A 22-year-old motorcycle rider, Eric George, has been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after pleading guilty to a charge of larceny.

The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1, following George’s conviction on one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to police, between 1 March and 30 June 2026, at No. 6 Mount Blue Close, Leicester Village, Mountain Rural District in the Western Area, the convict stole two large cooking pots, five pairs of assorted slippers, two electric irons, and other household items valued at NLe36,500. The stolen property belonged to former Member of Parliament for Bo District and former SLPP mayoral aspirant in Bo City, Hon. Monyaba Koroma.

When the charge was read and explained to him, George pleaded guilty.

Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo informed the court that the facts were as charged and further stated that the convict had no previous criminal record.

In mitigation, George pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.

Delivering his judgment, Magistrate Jah noted that the convict had pleaded guilty and had not wasted the court’s time. Taking this into consideration, he sentenced Eric George to four years’ imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
