Twenty-five-year-old labourer Emerson Adrian Wilson has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 refused him bail over an alleged case of House Breaking and Larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on July 16, 2026, at No. 7 Pyke Street, Regent Village, Mountain Rural District, Western Area, Freetown, Wilson allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Janet Wallace Johnson with intent to steal.
The prosecution further alleged that Wilson stole two Samsung tablets and a solar power bank, with a total value of Le13, 035, belonging to Johnson.
When the charge was read and explained to Wilson, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecution, led by Sergeant 8811 Florence Wilson, called Janet Wallace Johnson as its first witness.
Testifying in court, Johnson said she recognized the accused, explaining that he used to visit her brother, who lived in the same compound where the alleged incident occurred.
She alleged that on July 16, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., Wilson broke into the premises through the window of her room while nobody was at home.
According to the witness, the accused allegedly took two Samsung devices and a solar power bank. Johnson told the court that the items had been sent to her by her uncle, who resides in Canada, and were brand new at the time of the alleged incident.
Johnson further testified that she subsequently reported the matter to the Mountain Police Division, where a statement was obtained from her.
Defence counsel P.A.S. Tholley, Esq., adopted his previous bail application on behalf of the accused.
However, Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and ordered that Wilson remain in custody at the Male Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned to October 1, 2026, for further proceedings.
