A 20-year-old keke rider, Abu Bakarr Turay, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1. He was charged with one count of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on Saturday, 6 June 2026, at Sky Junction, Leicester Mountain in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit one HLX 150 black motorcycle with registration number AZO 104, valued at thirty-one thousand Leones (Le 31,000). The motorcycle was reportedly entrusted to him by Alhaji Koroma for commercial use.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken as the matter is a committal proceeding.

The prosecutor, DPC 18456 Linda Teh, informed the court that she had served the defendant with a copy of the case file and inquiry documents.

The defendant acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 30 June 2026.
