In a significant diplomatic gesture today, Austin Demby, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Health, welcomed Nigerian High Commissioner Ambassador Frank Azuike to the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Freetown.

The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance their longstanding bilateral relations, particularly in the sectors of medical deployment and training.

During the courtesy call, Demby expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s ongoing support in various health initiatives in Sierra Leone.

The dialogue centered on collaborative efforts to improve healthcare delivery, which is crucial for both countries. With Nigeria being one of Africa’s largest economies and Sierra Leone striving to bolster its healthcare systems, the partnership aims to address common challenges faced by both nations.

Ambassador Azuike echoed Demby’s sentiments, highlighting the importance of sharing expertise and resources to tackle health-related issues.

The two officials discussed potential programs that could facilitate medical training for Sierra Leonean healthcare professionals in Nigeria, as well as the possibility of deploying Nigerian medical personnel to assist in Sierra Leone’s healthcare facilities.
