Twenty-seven-year-old Alhassan Morray, a fisherman, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on three charges relating to alleged wounding and assault.
The defendant is facing three counts: wounding with intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861; wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the same Act; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Act.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Tambacula Wharf, Cape Road, Aberdeen, in the Western Area of Freetown, Morray allegedly wounded Ibrahim Salieu Turay with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Count two alleged that, on the same date and at the same location, the defendant maliciously wounded Turay.
The third count alleged that Morray assaulted Turay in a manner that occasioned him actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Inspector Florence Wilson, informed the court that the defendant had been served with a copy of the case and inquiry file. She also applied for subpoenas to be issued for the absent prosecution witnesses.
Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offences charged, and remanded the defendant at the Male Correctional Facility.
The matter was adjourned to October 29, 2026.
