Fifty-eight-year-old engineer, Mohamed Sese Koker, has been granted bail by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a one-count charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(b) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, between 1 and 31 December 2025, at No. 5 Main Motor Road, Regent Highway, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit the sum of US$125,000 (equivalent to Le 3,000,000), entrusted to him by Angella Mansaray for delivery into her money safe at Manowa Village, Kailahun District.
The charge was read and explained to the defendant; however, no plea was taken as the matter is a committal proceeding.
Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor informed the court that she had served the defendant with copies of the case file and inquiry documents, which the defendant acknowledged receiving.
Magistrate Jah granted bail to the defendant in the sum of Le 3,000,000 with two sureties in like sum. The court ordered that the sureties must be Sierra Leonean nationals resident in Freetown, and one surety must provide a title deed or conveyance of property. Both sureties are required to present valid identification cards. Bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned until 7 July 2026 for further hearing.
