Twenty-seven-year-old Mohamed Kamara, a tricycle rider, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1.
Kamara is facing one count of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1) (IV) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, between 1st and 31st July 2026, at No. 39 Goderich Street, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit a TVS tricycle, registration number AYE 571, valued at Le50, 000, which had been entrusted to him by Gibrilla Pito Sesay for the purpose of sale.
When the charge was read and explained to Kamara, no plea was taken, as the matter is proceeding by way of committal proceedings.
The prosecution, led by Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, informed the court that she had served the accused with a copy of the case and inquiry file. Kamara acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Facility.
The matter was adjourned to 10th September 2026.
