A youth, Michael Ngaojia, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Justice Adrian Fisher of the High Court in Freetown on two counts relating to the alleged unlawful possession and dealing in prohibited drugs.
Ngaojia is charged with unlawful possession of drugs, contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act, 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008), and dealing in prohibited drugs, contrary to Section 7(c) of the same Act.
According to the particulars of the alleged offence, on 10 June 2026, at the Mile 38 Police Checkpoint in the North-West Region of Sierra Leone, the defendant was allegedly found in possession of 16 sachets of Kush, which were reportedly tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids and weighed 160.9 grams, without lawful authority.
The second count alleged that, on the same date and at the same location, Ngaojia was found dealing in Kush, also said to have tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids, without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to him, Ngaojia pleaded not guilty.
The State Prosecutor, A. Jalloh, Esq., requested a short adjournment to enable the prosecution to lead its witnesses.
Justice Fisher, however, refused bail and remanded the defendant at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The matter has been adjourned to 16 October 2026 for further proceedings.
