Twenty-one-year-old Alusine Kamara, a tricycle rider, has been sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment by Magistrate Mary Julie Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown after being convicted on one count of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv) of the Larceny Act, 1916.

When the charge was read and explained to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

According to the particulars of the offence, on 12th May 2026, at Congo Cross, Freetown, the defendant fraudulently converted to his own use and benefit property entrusted to him by Patrick Kargbo for commercial purposes.

The property included one tricycle (commonly known as a Keke) with registration number AZY 247, together with its licence slip and number plate, valued at Le6,000, as well as one tricycle tyre with rim valued at Le1,200, bringing the total value of the items to Le7,200.

In delivering her judgment, Magistrate Gbloh stated that the prosecution had called three witnesses and successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

She therefore found the accused guilty as charged and, taking into consideration the seriousness of the offence, sentenced him to 30 months’ imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
