Twenty-nine-year-old Olu Wright, a pedicure practitioner, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The accused is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861; wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the same Act; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Act.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at No. 16 Elizabeth Street, Western Area, Freetown, Wright allegedly caused grievous bodily harm to Mohamed Abdulai Jabbie with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Count Two alleged that on the same date and at the same location, Wright maliciously wounded Jabbie.
Count Three further alleged that Wright assaulted Jabbie, occasioning him actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is being dealt with under committal proceedings.
The prosecution was represented by DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo, who informed the court that the accused had been served with a copy of the case and inquiry file.
Wright was not legally represented and confirmed that he had received the documents.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences, and remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned to September 14, 2026.
