Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the United States has strengthened China-US relations and provided clearer strategic guidance for the two countries to build a constructive relationship.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the statement on Saturday while briefing reporters on President Xi’s September 23–25 state visit to the United States.
According to Wang, President Xi and US President Donald Trump held candid and in-depth discussions on strategic and broader issues concerning China-US relations and the international situation.
He said the discussions were conducted in a friendly atmosphere based on mutual respect.
Wang said the two sides agreed to work towards building a constructive relationship of strategic stability based on respect, fairness and reciprocity.
He added that the agreement further enriched the new positioning of China-US relations and provided a clearer direction for the two countries to manage their relations and cooperate on issues of mutual interest.
