The Women’s Forum for Human Rights and Democracy (WOFHRAD) provided 200 pieces of furniture to three schools in Sella Limba Chiefdom, Karene District, with the presentation held on Thursday, October 29th, 2026.
With funds from ActionAid Sierra Leone, 100 fabricated wooden benches were distributed to Kakamba Community: 50 to the primary school, 50 to the secondary school, 50 to Masankorie Community, and 50 to Kadimba Community.
Henrietta M. Bangura, Project Officer at the Women’s Forum for Human Rights and Democracy, said the intervention is a response to the request made by the schools facing furniture constraints which was made known to them during their community engagements.
Bangura added that the initiative is aimed at improving the learning environment, as the lack of furniture was forcing pupils to cover a long distance to Kamakwie to write some of the external exams, despite one of the schools having been approved as an examination centre.
She further noted that the initiative is also part of supporting the Government of Sierra Leone’s agenda of promoting quality and inclusive education.
Henrietta M. Bangura also reaffirmed WOFHRAD’s commitment to working with partners and communities to strengthen education and create better learning opportunities for every child.
”Together, let us invest in education and build a brighter future” she called.
Albert Allen kargbo, Proprietor of the Magbonkoni II Community Secondary School Kakamba, Sella Limba Chiefdom, Karene District, tendered appreciation to WOFHRAD and ActionAid Sierra Leone for the furniture support, which was a huge relief, reflecting on the situation of transporting benches from the primary to the secondary school in the recent external examination it hosted as an approved centre.
Kargbo emphasised that there were also situations during the external examinations when they were forced to deprive the primary school pupils of taking classes due to the candidates’ capacity.
“Investing in interior schools with this intervention is a massive deal and we’re looking forward to more support,” he stated.
WOFHRAD and ActionAid Sierra Leone had also partnered to implement similar initiatives in Bombali District, demonstrating their commitment to transforming communities and playing an active role in national development.
