A fitter, Yayah Barrie, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a one-count charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on 20 June 2022, at Pyke Street in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly stole, as a bailee, a black Lexus RX 350 Jeep, valued at US$10,000 (approximately Le 240,000). The vehicle was reportedly entrusted to him by Alhaji Foday Koroma for repair purposes.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, informed the court that she had served the accused with a copy of his statement, which he acknowledged receiving.

Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 26 June 2026 for further hearing.
