The Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, has held a strategic meeting with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Sierra Leone, Mr. Fredrick Hans Ampiah, to explore opportunities for stronger collaboration in developing the country’s sports sector.
The meeting focused on establishing sustainable structures, effective policies and appropriate regulatory frameworks to strengthen the management, development and long-term sustainability of sports in Sierra Leone.
Discussions also highlighted the need to build institutional capacity, identify key areas of collaboration and develop resource mobilization mechanisms to ensure that investments in sports generate lasting benefits.
The proposed partnership with UNDP is expected to support efforts to strengthen the policy and institutional environment for sports development while contributing to broader national development objectives.
The engagement underscores a shared commitment to moving beyond short-term interventions by establishing sustainable structures and regulations that can provide a strong foundation for the future development of sports in Sierra Leone.
The Minister was accompanied by Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA); Chief Michael Shamsu Mustapha, AUSC Region 2; and Lic. Momodu Alpha of the Ministry of Sports.
