Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown has issued a bench warrant against a 41-year-old motor driver, Abubakarr Sesay, and his surety after they failed to appear before the court on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Sesay is facing two counts of malicious damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1816, and fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
The court also ordered that a subpoena be served on the absent complainant, Mohamed Sillah Sankoh.
According to the particulars of the alleged offence, on March 4, 2026, at Murray Town Navy Wharf in Freetown, Sesay allegedly maliciously damaged an Almera vehicle valued at NLe150, 000, which was the property of Sankoh.
The second count alleged that on the same date and at the same location, Sesay fraudulently converted to his own use and benefit the sum of NLe34, 000 allegedly entrusted to him by Sankoh for the purpose of making a payment.
Police Prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Wilson told the court that the accused was absent. She further informed the court that Sesay had been granted bail at the police station, but no bail bond was found in the case file, according to information provided by the investigating officer.
Sergeant Wilson therefore applied for a bench warrant against the absent accused.
In response, Magistrate Fornah ordered that a subpoena be served on the absent complainant and issued bench warrants against Sesay and his surety.
The matter was adjourned to September 30, 2026, for further proceedings.
