Two tillers have been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 after appearing on a charge of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
The accused persons, 22-year-old Sheriff Freeman and 27-year-old Ibrahim Kuyateh, are facing allegations of fraudulently converting a vehicle entrusted to them for repairs.
According to the particulars of offence, between 1st and 28th February 2026 at No. 21 Main Motor Road, Congo Town, Western Area, Freetown, the accused persons allegedly converted to their own use or benefit a silver-coloured Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition vehicle, registration number ARI 247, valued at Ten Thousand United States Dollars (US$10,000), equivalent to Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Leones (Le240,000).
The vehicle was allegedly entrusted to them by Dennis Sylvester Davies for the purpose of repairs.
When the charge was read and explained to both accused persons, no plea was taken because the matter is at the stage of committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Eric A. Deen Esq., informed the court that he had served both accused persons with copies of the case file and inquiry documents.
Both accused persons acknowledged receipt of the documents. They were unrepresented by legal counsel during the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and subsequently adjourned the matter to 10th August 2026.
