The Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (SLEWRC) has commenced an in-person capacity-building training with Uganda’s Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) in Kampala, Uganda. The training is scheduled to run from 19 to 23 October 2026.

The programme focuses on key areas of regulatory practice, including leadership and governance, financial regulation, licensing and compliance, utility performance, and consumer protection.

Through this engagement, SLEWRC aims to strengthen its institutional capacity and identify regulatory best practices that can be adapted to Sierra Leone’s context to enhance regulatory effectiveness and improve electricity services.

The opening session brought together the management team of Uganda’s Electricity Regulatory Authority, the SLEWRC delegation, and the World Bank’s energy team for introductions and discussions on the objectives of the capacity-building programme.
