Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, William Fayai Sellu updates the media on the progress and methods used to track Captain Sensei and Captain Conteh who were planning another coup, were neutralized on the 27th November, 2024.
He explained that Captain Senesi and Captain Conteh were recruiting men to plan another coup based on an intelligence. Mr. Sellu commented that they had teams who were doing the arrest and also who was doing the pursuit. Stating that they had four pillars which made them had 100% conviction in the treason trail.
He furthered that going into pursuit the deployed a lot of resources across the country in the following possible night of escapes in the country.
The IGP revealed the method in which they used in the pursuit after the fail coup. He added that it was based technological intelligence which captured the two fugitives.
After November 26th failed coup, they failed another two attempts to attack the government which involved a lot of monies and experienced.
He revealed that they had a technology that would track phones for as long as it is on, anywhere you are their intelligence would pick you and that was how they tracked Captain Senesi and Captain Conteh.
Mr. Sellu asserted that the two fugitives did a broadcast on VOA and from that they knew they were together, they stayed at Makeni and then, they moved to Waterloo where they were living and planning to set another coup and people were receiving money on behalf from Ria and Money gram.
IGP Sellu vowed that they would go after anyone who was part of this plot and also those who were communicating and accommodating them knowing fully that they were fugitives and wanted by government.
He noted they aim was to arrest them to bring them to justice but they were armed and prepared so they opened fire at security forces which led to their neutralization.
