The Sierra Leone Football Association Referees Committee has suspended referee Ibrahim Turay for four months as well prohibiting him from officiating in the Leone Rock Premier League across the country.
This decision follows a review of a video from a match between Diamond Stars FC and Luawa FC, where Turay served as the Centre Referee at the Koidu Town field.
During the match, Turay awarded a penalty against Luawa FC and issued a red card. The Referees Committee stated that this suspension reflects their commitment to maintaining integrity and fairness in Sierra Leone football.
The Referees Association remains dedicated to ensuring that all matches are officiated fairly and uphold high standards of professionalism. The Sierra Leone Football Association expresses gratitude to stakeholders for their continued support in promoting the principles of fair play and integrity in the beautiful game.
The Referees Manager Franklin Angelo Foray Marrah has early on said that they are ready to transform Refereeing in Sierra Leone Football. Adding that they want in the next two years they want massive improvement in refereeing in Sierra Leone that has prompted them in taking such decision and largely to send a signal for all the other to thing twice in making their Final decisions.
