Twenty-six-year-old security guard Sampha Koroma has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 after being charged with Larceny by Servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, along Wilkinson Road in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused, while employed as a security guard by Mohamed Kamara, allegedly stole one generator battery, iron props and thirty pieces of plywood, with a total value of One Hundred and Forty-Five Thousand Five Hundred Leones (Le145,500), belonging to Mohamed Kamara.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court as a committal proceeding.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, informed the court that she had served the accused with copies of the case file and inquiry documents. The accused confirmed receipt of the documents.

Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.

The matter was adjourned to 10 July 2026.
