Thirty-five-year-old petty trader Jonathan Williams has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 after being charged with two counts, including Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same Act.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Monday, 8 June 2026, at Belliar Compound in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly caused grievous bodily harm to Abdulai Michael Sesay with intent to cause him serious injury.

The second count further alleges that on the same date and place, the accused assaulted Abdulai Michael Sesay in a manner that resulted in actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court as a committal proceeding.

The Prosecutor, DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo, informed the court that he had served the accused with copies of the case file and inquiry documents. The accused acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences, and remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.

The matter was adjourned until 14 July 2026.
