The leadership of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) in Kenema has held a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening revenue generation and enhancing the financial sustainability of the institution.

The initiative follows the recent posting of Francis Johnny, former Station Manager in Bonthe, as the new Regional Finance Manager for the Eastern Region.

Speaking after the engagement, SALWACO’s Regional Manager for the Eastern Region, Braima Allieu, underscored the importance of the exercise, describing it as a positive step toward improving the institution’s financial performance and operational efficiency.

According to him, increased revenue generation is essential to ensuring the effective delivery of water services and supporting the company’s long-term development goals.

SALWACO’s Kenema Station has intensified efforts to improve revenue collection and financial management since the appointment of Engineer Emmanuel Fanday Bayoh as Station Manager. The station has been implementing measures aimed at enhancing customer compliance and improving overall revenue performance.

The company’s operations in Eastern Sierra Leone continue to benefit from the leadership and guidance of Engineer Abu Kallon, Technical Director for the Eastern Region, and Mary Mansaray Ngegba, Director of Communication, Gender and Outreach.

The renewed focus on revenue mobilization aligns with the broader vision of SALWACO’s Managing Director, Engineer Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, who was recently appointed by President Julius Maada Bio as the first female Managing Director of the institution.

Following her appointment, Engineer Jabbi embarked on a nationwide assessment of SALWACO’s operations and identified several areas requiring review and improvement. Among her key priorities is transforming SALWACO into a fully functional, efficient, and financially sustainable institution capable of delivering quality water services to communities across Sierra Leone.

The ongoing revenue generation drive is therefore seen as a timely and important intervention that supports the institution’s efforts to strengthen its financial base and achieve sustainable growth.

SALWACO has also encouraged customers to continue paying their water bills promptly, emphasizing that timely payments are crucial to maintaining and expanding water services for the benefit of communities throughout the region.

The company remains committed to improving service delivery while implementing strategies that will enhance operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
