The Strategic Outreach Unit South, a division of the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, organized its inaugural regional press conference in Bo on May 10, 2024. The event marks a significant stride in enhancing communication and addressing crucial issues in the southern region.

Held at the Provincial Secretary’s Office in Bo City, the conference convened journalists from various media outlets alongside representatives from civil society, banking institutions, consumer protection agencies, trade associations, and security bodies.

Festus Margai, head of the Strategic Outreach Unit South, underscored the government’s dedication to disseminating vital information. He emphasized collaborative efforts with the media and other stakeholders to ensure public access to governance-related news.

Hon. Mohamed Elogima Kandakpa Allie, the Resident Minister of the Southern Region, expressed gratitude to attendees and underscored the pivotal role of the media in national development. He addressed governmental challenges and reassured citizens of ongoing efforts to address them.

Allie highlighted his tenure as the 22nd Resident Minister of the South, citing his reappointment as indicative of the government’s confidence in his leadership. He outlined initiatives aimed at tackling regional issues, including regular reports submitted to President Bio.

During the conference, participants had the opportunity to pose questions and voice concerns. Margai affirmed the continuation of such dialogues under the stewardship of Minister of Information and Civic Education, Hon. Chernor Bah, to ensure continuous engagement and transparency.

The press conference in Bo represents a significant stride towards fostering improved communication, accountability, and collaborative endeavors in Sierra Leone’s southern region.
