A fisherman, Alusine Kamara, has made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on a one-count charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, sometime in 2021 at Goderich in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain properties entrusted to him by Sahr Foday Morquee for safekeeping. The items in question include one 15-horsepower outboard engine valued at Le56,000 and one set of fishing nets valued at Le35,000, making a total value of Le91,000.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

During the proceedings, Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa led prosecution witness number three, DPC 13878 Blango P, attached to the Breaking and Larceny Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department, Pademba Road, Freetown. The witness identified both the complainant and the accused in court.

He recalled that on June 23, 2025, while on duty at his office, the complainant reported a case of fraudulent conversion against the defendant. The matter was subsequently assigned to him for investigation.

At that point, the prosecution requested a short adjournment.

Magistrate Fornah adjourned the matter to May 6, 2026, for continuation of the witness’s testimony. Bail was extended for the defendant.
