A philanthropist and advocate for girl-child education, Mrs. Marian Sissy John, has donated SLE 10,000 to pupils of Royal Brains Academy (RBA) in Goderich, Freetown on 3rd February.
Mrs. John, who is well known for providing support to deprived and needy people across the country, made the donation as part of her continued commitment to promoting education, particularly for the girl child.
Addressing the pupils, Mrs. John encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and avoid all forms of distraction. She emphasized discipline and moral conduct, advising pupils to concentrate on their education. She further stressed that educating a single girl can transform an entire community, citing her own life as an example.
Mrs. John explained that as a trained nurse, she has been able to give back to society and support vulnerable people, noting that every girl child has the potential to do the same upon completing her education.
In addition to the cash donation, she pledged further support to the school, including assistance with its ongoing building project and the provision of office furniture.
Responding on behalf of the school, the Principal of Royal Brains Academy, Mr. Sayo Karim, expressed appreciation to Mrs. John for her generous gesture. He described the donation as timely and impactful, adding that the school would always welcome her. He also wished her a safe journey and prayed for traveling mercies on her return to the United States.
The pupils of Royal Brains Academy expressed excitement and appreciation for the donation and said they were deeply inspired by Mrs. John’s motivational message.
