Solomon Lebbie a Maison, Abdul Kamara security, and Olive Bendu, a retired civil servant made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on three count charges causing grievous body harm: Contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1916, Wounding: Contrary to section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1916 and Assault Occasioning Actual bodily harm: Contrary to section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1816.
According to the particulars of offense: you, on Saturday the 14th of September 2024, at Kogbo 2 Goderich, the western area in Freetown, caused grievous bodily harm to Amidu Kamara with intent to cause him grievous body harm.
Count two revealed that you, on the date and place, maliciously wounded Amidu Kamara with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Count three further stated that you, on the same date and place, assaulted Amidu Kamara in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
No plea was taken when the charges were read and explained to the accused persons.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Aminatu Daboh, sought a short adjournment date because her witness was absent.
The Defence counsel, A Bangura, applied for bail on behalf of the accused persons, who are Sierra Leoneans residents within this jurisdiction. He added that if bail is granted, they will not interfere with the prosecution witness or witnesses; they’ve reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on their behalf. He said that the accused must be treated with justice even though they are charged with serious offenses.
Meanwhile, magistrate Kekura refused bail to the first and second accused. At the same time, he granted bail to the third accused with the sum of five hundred thousand Leone with two sureties who must be residents within this jurisdiction with a National Identity Card matter adjourned to 5th of November, 2024, for further hearings.
