The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) on Tuesday showcased its ongoing digital procurement reforms during the commemoration of World Public Service Day 2026 at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown.

The event, held under the theme “Transforming Public Institutions, Advancing Innovation, Participation and Inclusion,” brought together senior government officials, public servants, development partners, students, security personnel, health workers, and members of the public. It was organized by the Public Sector Reform Unit in collaboration with key public sector institutions.

At the exhibition, NPPA highlighted reforms aimed at strengthening Sierra Leone’s public procurement system, with particular emphasis on the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, a digital platform designed to modernize procurement processes and improve public access to procurement information.

Officials at the Authority’s exhibition booth explained that the reforms are intended to promote transparency, accountability, efficiency, and value for money in the management of public resources. They also outlined NPPA’s role in regulating procurement activities, supporting procurement professionals, and promoting best practices across government institutions.

Visitors to the booth were informed about how the e-GP system is expected to streamline procurement procedures, reduce delays, and enhance public oversight of government contracts.

Speaking during the symposium, the Director General of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), Dr. Ansu Sao Tucker, described public servants as the country’s most asset and stressed the need for innovation and digitalisation to improve service delivery.

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, delivering the keynote address, called for reforms grounded in merit, accountability, performance management, digital transformation, and inclusive governance. He said strong and effective public institutions remain critical to achieving Sierra Leone’s development goals.

NPPA noted that its participation in the symposium and exhibition reflected the importance of public procurement in national development and provided an opportunity to engage citizens and stakeholders on ongoing reforms within the sector.

The World Public Service Day commemoration also served as a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among institutions working to improve public service delivery and promote innovation in governance.
