The National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE) is set to commence the TAFISA Level II Certified Leadership Course as part of its continued efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and promote sustainable Sport for All initiatives across the country.

The four-day training is scheduled for October 6–9, 2026, at the OlympAfrica Centre in Goderich, Freetown, and will bring together sports administrators, executives and emerging leaders who successfully completed the TAFISA Level I Certified Leadership Course.

The Level II programme follows the successful completion of the inaugural four-day Level I training held from July 8–11, which formed part of the NOC/CGA-SLE’s broader efforts to improve sports leadership and promote inclusive, community-based physical activity programmes.

According to NOC/CGA-SLE Project Manager Bai Bangura, the Level II course is designed to further enhance the leadership, management and organizational skills of national sports associations while strengthening the implementation of sustainable Sport for All programmes across Sierra Leone.

Bangura said continuous capacity building remains a key priority for the NOC/CGA-SLE, noting that developing competent and effective sports leaders is essential to the growth and management of the country’s sports sector.

He disclosed that TAFISA course experts Dr. Katongo Bwalya of Zambia and Elvis Nshimba of the Democratic Republic of Congo are expected to arrive in Sierra Leone on October 5 and depart on October 10.

The Level II course will build on the knowledge and skills acquired during the first phase, with participants expected to deepen their understanding of leadership, organizational management and the development of sustainable sports programmes.

Participants who successfully complete the second phase of the programme will be awarded the TAFISA Level II Certified Leadership Certificate.

The initiative is expected to further support the NOC/CGA-SLE’s vision of developing stronger sports institutions and expanding opportunities for inclusive physical activity and Sport for All programmes nationwide.
