A Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown has sentenced Lamin Kamara to 18 months’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to stealing 58 dozen T-shirts valued at Le14,500.

The sentence was handed down on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2. Kamara was convicted on a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the police charge sheet, the offence occurred on June 18, 2026, at Malama Thomas Street in Freetown. The prosecution alleged that Kamara stole a large bundle containing 58 dozen T-shirts, each dozen valued at Le250, bringing the total value of the stolen items to Le14,500. The property belonged to Mariatu Savage.

When the charge was read and explained to him, Kamara pleaded guilty. In his plea for leniency, he appealed to the court to temper justice with mercy.

In delivering his judgment, Magistrate Fornah sentenced Kamara to 18 months’ imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre.

However, the court ordered that the custodial sentence would be waived if Kamara returns the stolen T-shirts or pays their equivalent value of Le14,500 to the complainant. The magistrate ruled that if he fails to comply with this condition, he will serve the full 18-month prison sentence.
