The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) has presented its 12-month priority delivery agenda at a high-level Delivery Clinic organized by the Office of the Chief Minister at State House.
The engagement brought together ministers, senior government officials, technical experts and implementing agencies to review key government commitments, identify priority interventions, set implementation timelines and address potential bottlenecks that could hinder progress between September 2026 and August 2027.
During the clinic, MAFS presented a consolidated agriculture delivery framework aligned with the objectives of the Government’s flagship Feed Salone initiative. The framework outlines major agricultural infrastructure investments, production enhancement programmes, improvements in national agricultural systems and institutional reforms aimed at achieving measurable results within the agreed timeframe.
The Delivery Clinic focused on strengthening accountability by ensuring that each priority intervention has clearly defined objectives, implementation timelines, responsible institutions and the necessary resources for effective execution.
MAFS also highlighted critical challenges requiring coordinated government support, including financing constraints, procurement processes, customs and logistics issues, contractor performance and improved collaboration among relevant institutions.
The participation of key government institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Cabinet Secretariat and the National Monitoring and Evaluation Agency, provided a platform for coordinated decision-making and strengthened mechanisms for tracking progress on agreed commitments.
The engagement is expected to improve inter-agency coordination and ensure that priority agricultural investments move efficiently from planning to implementation, delivering tangible outcomes within the set timelines.
MAFS’ participation reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to accelerating the delivery of agricultural programmes and ensuring that investments in the sector generate meaningful benefits for farmers, women, young people and agribusinesses across Sierra Leone.
