The Executive Director League of Democracy Advocates (LoDA) Ibrahim Sorie Dumbuya has advocated for continuous support for human rights issues during his statement at the commemorating of World Freedom Day on Tuesday 9th December 2024.
He said the commemoration marks a significant day in the history of Sierra Leone, adding that it is a day where the world celebrates the fundamental rights that have been enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human R
Director Dumbuya stated that these rights are essential to the dignity and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their race, gender, religion, or social status.
“On this day, we must not forget the ongoing conflicts and wars in the Middle East that have caused immense suffering and devastation to countless innocent lives. We call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and for all parties involved to work towards a peaceful resolution for the benefit of all those affected,” Director Dumbuya said.
He furthered that the world must also remember those who have been unjustly imprisoned for speaking out against social injustices and advocating for the rights of others. These brave individuals have sacrificed their own freedom for the betterment of society, and it is our duty to demand their release and ensure their safety and well-being.
Director Dumbuya emphasized the world reflects on the importance of human rights on this day. He reaffirmed his organization commitment to upholding these rights for all individuals around the world. Director Dumbuya urged everyone to strive for a world where peace, justice, and equality prevail, and where every person is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
