The embattled Chairman of the Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC), Dr. Alfred Peter Conteh has said the coronation of Dr. Samura Kamara as flag bearer is a reproach to the All Peoples Congress (APC) which he claims has degenerated to Some People’s Congress.
He has informed the general public that he does not recognise the current executives pointing out that the National Delegates Conference (NDC) organized in Makeni last month was to a large extent illegal.
“I am still the Chairman interim of the ITGC with a court mandate to take the party to NDC”, he challenged, noting that what transpired in Makeni did not represent the true picture of the party with only 7% women representation instead of 30% for such a big political party.
He said the travelling of Dr. Samura to the Unites States of America has nothing to do with the party but rather the case he has over his head before the High Court of Sierra Leone with regards the Chancellor building for which he is standing trial on two counts.
He said it does sound right for a party to have a flag bearer with a big corruption case hanging over his head, adding that the delegates list used in Makeni was orchestrated and well cooked up to have Dr. Samura and others elected.
He further referred to the delegates list as ill motivated with no consideration for women representation claiming also that it did not include the eastern region at all.
He said the party is in a whole lot of legal mess which the court needs to clear ahead of the election citing the case filed by Francis Gbondo and his effort at taking the party back to court for clarifications.
It could be recalled that Dr. Peter Conteh had alleged that some lawyers had made Justice Hannah Bonie to believe that they were representing him prior to the NDC which he said was far from the truth.
