A fisherman, Alusine Kamara, made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of the Pademba Road Court No. 2 on a one-count charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, sometime in 2021 at Goderich in the Western Area of Freetown, Kamara allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use certain properties entrusted to him for safekeeping by Sahr Foday Morquee. The items include one 15-horsepower outboard motor valued at Le 56,000 and one set of fishing nets valued at Le 35,000, bringing the total value to Le 91,000.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa, a prosecution witness, testified in court and was cross-examined by defence counsel L. Ellis Esq., who subsequently applied for bail on behalf of the defendant pursuant to Section 76(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2024.

Magistrate Fornah granted bail to the defendant in the sum of Le 100,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety must be a responsible citizen with a fixed address and must present a valid identification card. Bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The matter was adjourned to 20 April 2026.
