Fourah Bay College’s (FBC) 200th anniversary celebrations will continue at Sugarland Beach in Freetown on October 31, 2026, with a fiesta aimed at combining entertainment, networking and fundraising.
Dubbed “Celebrate 200 Years with 200 Leones,” the event is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. and is expected to bring together former and current students, alumni, lecturers, friends and supporters of the institution.
The fiesta forms part of activities marking two centuries of Fourah Bay College’s contribution to education in Sierra Leone and West Africa.
Under the message, “The Anthem of West Africa is calling you, go na beach,” organizers are inviting members of the FBC community to come together to celebrate the college’s 200-year journey while supporting its bicentenary activities.
According to the organizers, the event is designed not only for entertainment but also as a fundraising platform to support activities associated with the 200th anniversary celebrations.
Fourah Bay College, one of Sierra Leone’s longstanding institutions of higher learning, has over the years produced graduates who have contributed to various sectors of society in Sierra Leone and abroad.
The bicentenary therefore provides an opportunity for former students and other members of the FBC community to reconnect, celebrate the institution’s history and explore ways of supporting its future.
The Sugarland Beach fiesta is also expected to provide an opportunity for alumni to meet current students, reconnect with former classmates and strengthen their relationship with the institution.
Organizers are encouraging alumni and friends of FBC to use the occasion to give back to the college, with ticket purchases forming part of the fundraising component.
Advance tickets are priced at NLe200, while tickets purchased at the gate on the day of the event will cost NLe250.
The organizers are encouraging members of the FBC family to purchase their tickets early and participate in the celebration.
The event is expected to bring together members of the college community in an atmosphere of entertainment, friendship and fundraising as the institution continues its countdown to 200 years.
