England’s World Cup preparations were thrown into chaos after key equipment was stolen from a team van ahead of their first training session in Kansas City, sources close to the camp confirmed.
According to reports, players’ match boots were taken from a shipment being transported from England’s pre-camp base in West Palm Beach to their World Cup headquarters in Missouri. Boots belonging to captain Harry Kane and midfield star Jude Bellingham are feared to be among the missing items.
The theft also included official tournament match balls, training gear, analysis equipment, whiteboards and massage tables – essential tools for Gareth Southgate’s staff as they finalize plans for their World Cup opener against Croatia.
England staff are now working urgently to recover or replace the missing kit before their first game. The timing could not be worse, with training sessions and tactical work due to ramp up in the coming days at their Missouri base.
Kansas City Police have confirmed they are investigating a possible theft and local reports claim an arrest has already been made. The incident has left the England camp scrambling to ensure players have the right footwear and equipment ahead of kickoff.
For a squad chasing World Cup glory, losing personalized boots and analysis gear is a major headache. Kane and Bellingham are known to wear custom-fitted boots, and replacing them at short notice could impact comfort and performance.
Southgate’s side will be hoping the issue is resolved quickly as focus shifts to their tournament opener vs Croatia. With World Cup pressure already high, England will want nothing to distract from their on-field mission.
