Thirty-two-year-old Olufemi Haffner has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on six counts of alleged larceny by servant and fraudulent embezzlement.
Haffner, who was employed as a Branch Manager at African Automobile SL Limited’s Lumley branch in Freetown, is charged with one count of larceny by servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916, and five counts of fraudulent embezzlement, contrary to Section 17(1)(b) of the same Act.
According to the particulars of the first count, on Monday, August 3, 2026, at African Automobile SL Limited’s Lumley branch, the accused allegedly stole one unregistered Discover 125 motorbike and one unregistered CT 125 motorbike, with a total value of NLe49, 000, belonging to the company.
The second count alleges that on July 21, 2026, at the same location, Haffner fraudulently embezzled NLe23, 000 which he had received from Momoh Tholley on behalf of African Automobile SL Limited.
The third count states that on July 27, 2026, he allegedly fraudulently embezzled NLe30, 000 received from Amie Swarayon on behalf of the company.
The fourth count alleges that on July 28, 2026, Haffner fraudulently embezzled NLe12, 000 received from Ibrahim Emanu Turay on behalf of African Automobile SL Limited.
The fifth count states that on July 31, 2026, he allegedly embezzled NLe24, 000 received from Umar Tham Sesay on behalf of the company.
The sixth count alleges that on May 11, 2026, Haffner fraudulently embezzled NLe25, 000 received from Abdulai Mansaray on behalf of African Automobile SL Limited.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
Prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen told the court that he had served the accused with copies of the case and inquiry file. Haffner confirmed receipt of the documents.
The accused was not legally represented during the proceedings.
Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences, and remanded Haffner at the Male Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned to September 16, 2026.
