Defending champions Brima Lane Community climbed to the top of Group A after edging Fire Burn Community 1-0 in the 1XBet ASSPA Inter-Community League 2026 fixture at the Approved School Playing Field.
Having opened their title defence with a draw, Brima Lane entered the encounter determined to secure their first victory of the campaign, while Fire Burn were equally eager to build on their encouraging start. The result was a competitive affair that lived up to expectations, with both communities displaying determination, discipline, and tactical awareness throughout the 90 minutes.
Brima Lane controlled much of the possession during the opening exchanges, probing an opening against a well-drilled Fire Burn side that defended resolutely and looked dangerous on the counterattack. With the game finely balanced, Brima Lane eventually found the decisive breakthrough in the 74th minute. Substitute Mohamed Adil (#40) rose to the occasion, finishing confidently to score the only goal of the match and hand the defending champions a deserved lead.
Fire Burn responded positively and threw numbers forward in search of a late equaliser, but Brima Lane’s backline stood firm under pressure, producing a disciplined defensive display to protect their slender advantage. Mohamed Fofanah (#70) was shown a yellow card in stoppage time as the champions expertly managed the closing moments of the contest.
For his match-winning goal and influential display, Mohamed Adil (#40) was deservedly named Man of the Match, capping an outstanding individual performance with the strike that secured all three points for his community.
The victory sees Brima Lane Community move to four points, taking them to the summit of Group A after the opening round of fixtures saw both matches finish 1-1. The result also leaves Fire Burn with one point from two matches, keeping the race for qualification finely poised.
Attention now turns to the next Group A fixture, where Calaba Town Community will take on Looking Town Community in another crucial encounter that could significantly shape the standings as the battle for a place in the knockout stage continues.
