Twenty-seven years old Hawanatu Hawa Koroma a trader made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 on a count charge of murder contrary to section 1 of the offences against the person Act 1861 as repealed and replaced by Section 4 (a) to the schedule of the abolition of the death penalty Act 2021 Act No.6 of 2022.

According to the particulars of offence on Friday 22nd November 2024 at back of Leicester Peak Junction Hill station the mountain rural district the western area in Freetown murdered Nabieu Bangura.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused person No plea taken.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh led in Prosecution witness number one Frank Kamara he know the accused person as the wife of his friend now deceased he recall on the 22nd November 2024 he was at home when he saw fire burning at the apartment of the deceased he watch and he saw people was chasing the accused person his brother known as Mix called the police and alleged that the accused had set the deceased ablaze he went to the scene he was told that the accused person had gone and hid herself to Yakuba upon that he went there and approached the accused person and asked her why she lit her husband ablaze he wanted it the police came to the scene they broke opened the house and got the deceased out they tried to put out the fire that was on him and then took him to the 34 military hospital and they were referred to the emergency hospital and then police came to the scene and arrested the accused person the witness said the deceased later died at the Connaught hospital the witness said he later made statement to the police he concluded.

The witness was cross examined by the accused person.

Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to the female correctional facility in Freetown matter adjourned to the 21st January 2025.
