Cricket Sierra Leone has today begun the second phase of its four-day Women’s Cricket Celebration in the Western Area Rural after reaching over four thousand girls in Urban section.
The goal is to target thirty-eight thousand four hundred girls from ninety-six schools in eleven districts and five regions.
Thirty-eight well-trained development officers will deliver this Rural section programme.
Commencing today, the programme will target eight girls’ schools (four primary ones and four secondary ones) in the Western Urban Area, with the first day linked to cricket awareness.
The second day will be about coaching clinic and inter-house cricket competition while the third day will mark the end of that competition before the Inter-School Criiio Cup Festival on Friday.
The Western Rural will target 3, 520 across eight schools.
The whole endeavour aims to massively co-opt the highest number of female participants into the game and to make cricket the second sport with enduring followership after football in Sierra Leone.
