Forty-four-year-old building contractor Sulaiwan Tarawally has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after Magistrate Saio Mamakoh Betty Kallon of Pademba Road Court No. 3 refused him bail on a charge of affray, contrary to Section 11 of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.
According to the particulars of the offence, Tarawally allegedly engaged in a fight with the intention of putting the public in fear on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at No. 9 Andrew Street, in Freetown’s Western Area.
When the charge was read and explained to him, no plea was taken as the matter is proceeding under committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Inspector Mohamed Kamara, informed the court that the defendant had been served with a copy of the case and inquiry file. Tarawally confirmed receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Kallon subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility.
The matter was adjourned to November 11, 2026.
