Business Tycoon Remanded Over Alleged Larceny

A businessman who identified himself as Ibrahim Sesay was on Monday, 11 May 2026, arraigned before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah for his alleged involvement in larceny, wounding with intent, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He is accused of stealing three cartons of tiles valued at Le 3,600, allegedly belonging to the complainant, Alhaji Salliue Jalloh.

The defendant is facing four counts, including larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916, wounding with intent contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, malicious damage, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

According to the charge sheet, the incident occurred on 22 April 2026 at Howe Street in Freetown, where the accused allegedly stole three cartons of tiles valued at Le 3,600, property of Alhaji Salliue Jalloh.

The prosecution further alleged that on the same date and at the same location, the defendant wounded the complainant with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He is also accused of maliciously damaging the complainant’s property and assaulting him in a manner that caused actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken due to the seriousness of the offences.

The prosecutor, CSP Tommy Zizer, served the defendant with the case file to enable him to prepare his defence.

The accused was not represented in court, and no bail application was made on his behalf.

Due to the gravity of the charges, Magistrate Jah ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody. The matter was adjourned to 17 May 2026 for continuation of hearing.
