A 30-year-old baker, Samuel Kaindaneh, has made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on two charges: conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
He is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, contrary to Section 4 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, and murder, contrary to Section 1 of the same Act, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).
According to the particulars of offence, on Thursday, 19th March 2026, at the PWD Compound off Pademba Road in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons, currently unknown, to commit murder.
The second count states that on the same date and location, Samuel Kaindaneh allegedly murdered Mohamed Lamin Turay.
Prosecutor Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer, Esq., informed the court that he had served the defendant with a copy of his witness statement. The defendant confirmed receipt of the document.
Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter has been adjourned to 1st April 2026 for further hearing.
