The second day of Sierra Leone Mining Week provided a major platform for mining and construction companies to showcase their expertise, strengthen partnerships, and engage with key stakeholders in the country’s growing mining sector.
Representatives of CONSAR Group, including Country Director Charles M. Thompson and Project Director Santhana Karthick, highlighted the company’s contributions to mining infrastructure development in Sierra Leone and across several African countries.
Speaking during an interview at the event, Thompson described Mining Week as an important opportunity for the company to demonstrate its capabilities and connect with industry players.
“Mining Week is very important for us as a company because it provides a platform to showcase the wide range of services CONSAR offers,” Thompson said. “We are a mining, engineering, procurement, and commercial construction company, and this event allows us not only to serve our customers but also to strengthen our networking opportunities.”
Thompson noted that although CONSAR is relatively new to Sierra Leone, the company has already established a strong presence through several major projects. He added that the company’s operations extend beyond Sierra Leone to countries including Liberia, Burkina Faso, and Ghana.
“Sierra Leone is relatively new for us, but our experience across Africa demonstrates our capability and commitment to development,” he added.
The company currently operates a resident office in Freetown and is involved in several ongoing mining and infrastructure projects. Thompson encouraged interested stakeholders and potential clients to engage with the company through its office and project management team.
Project Director Santhana Karthick explained that CONSAR Group was established in Ghana in 1984 and entered the Sierra Leonean market nearly four years ago.
“We are currently involved in the construction of the Marampa Mine project and the MG Gold Mine project, while also undertaking infrastructure works at the Freetown Port,” Karthick stated. “We are not only focused on mining construction; we also undertake residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.”
The event continues to serve as a valuable forum for companies operating in the mining sector to promote investment opportunities, exchange ideas, and foster partnerships aimed at supporting Sierra Leone’s economic growth and infrastructure development.
