Students from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology participated in a public speaking workshop at the American Center Freetown, aimed at building confidence and strengthening practical communication skills.
The session was led by Timothy Miller and focused on interactive exercises designed to improve students’ articulation, presentation techniques, and audience engagement. Through role-play and peer feedback, participants practiced delivering clear, well-structured messages in both academic and professional contexts.
The workshop is part of ongoing efforts to equip Sierra Leone’s young leaders with skills that support their academic development and future career prospects. Organizers noted that the program seeks to lay a foundation for meaningful engagement with international partners, including American businesses and institutions, as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic cooperation and stability.
Limkokwing University, known for its emphasis on creativity and innovation, partnered with the American Center to provide students with hands-on experience beyond the classroom. Activities encouraged participants to manage public speaking anxiety while learning how to communicate ideas effectively in diverse settings.
The American Center Freetown regularly hosts programs that connect young Sierra Leoneans with practical training opportunities in education, leadership, and entrepreneurship. This latest workshop adds to a series of initiatives aimed at expanding access to professional development for students across the country.
By emphasizing communication as a core leadership skill, the session sought to prepare participants to contribute more effectively in classrooms, community initiatives, and cross-border collaborations. The approach reflects a commitment to human capital development as a key driver of sustainable growth and shared prosperity between Sierra Leone and the United States.
Participants are expected to apply the skills gained in their studies and future careers, particularly in environments that require clear expression and confident delivery.
